Does a derma roller work with minoxidil?
Microneedling and minoxidil are a popular pairing. Rolling opens tiny micro-channels in the scalp so your minoxidil absorbs deeper. It's an add-on to your treatment, not a replacement for it. Pair it with our 5% minoxidil solution or 5% minoxidil foam.
How often should I use it?
With 0.5mm needles, 1–2 times a week is plenty. Give your scalp a few days to recover between sessions.
Should I apply minoxidil right after rolling?
Wait at least 24 hours after rolling before applying minoxidil to the same area. Freshly rolled skin absorbs more, which can increase irritation.
How do I use it?
Clean the roller with 70% rubbing alcohol and let it dry. On a clean, dry scalp, roll each thinning area 4–5 times vertically, horizontally and diagonally with light pressure, lifting between passes. Clean it again and store it in its case.
Does it hurt?
At 0.5mm you'll feel a light prickling. Use gentle pressure; you don't need to press hard.
When should I replace it?
Every 10–15 uses, or sooner if it starts to feel scratchy or any needles look bent. Dull needles tear instead of puncturing cleanly.
